What Franklin Yard is

Virtual one-on-one tutoring built around what's actually costing points.

Most families come to us because their student is capable, but the score does not quite match. Our job is to figure out whether the issue is content, timing, strategy, anxiety, review habits, or simply not knowing how the test works.

How tutoring works

  • Virtual one-on-one tutoring, not a course or a chain
  • A dedicated tutor matched to your student's goals, personality, and schedule
  • A practical plan built around practice results
  • Pay as you go, with no large upfront commitment

The tutor team

Our tutors are seriously qualified. Maybe unreasonably so. Across the team, you'll find PhDs, Ivy League grads, National Merit Scholars, published writers, subject-matter experts, and tutors with top test scores.

Credentials are only part of the story. We care most about whether a tutor can explain clearly, adapt to the student, and turn practice into actual improvement.

Common questions

Things parents ask before they book.

How do I know whether my child actually needs tutoring?
That's exactly what the first call is for. We'll talk through current scores, goals, and timeline before you decide whether tutoring makes sense. If we don't think tutoring is the right move, we'll say so.
How does virtual tutoring actually work?
Sessions run over Zoom with a shared digital whiteboard and screen-sharing. Tutors mark up problems in real time and pull up Desmos, College Board materials, or whatever the student needs. Many families find it works just as well as in-person, without the driving.
Do I have to commit to a package up front?
No. We bill hourly as you go. Many families start with a few sessions to see how the fit feels, then continue if it's working. We'll never push a large package on the first call.
Should my student take the SAT or the ACT?
It depends on the student. Some score noticeably better on one than the other, and the best way to find out is a short diagnostic of each. We'll talk through this on the call and help you figure out whether the choice is settled or still open.
What does it cost?
We bill hourly as you go. Rates depend on tutor experience and the type of support your student needs, and we'll explain the exact rate before you decide whether to start. There's no large upfront package.
